StudentCam is C-SPAN’s annual national video documentary competition that encourages students to think critically about issues that affect our communities and our nation. 2024 marked the 20th anniversary of the competition and we invited middle and high school students to create a short documentary addressing the theme, “Looking Forward while Considering the Past.”
12th grade students Brianna Johnson & Leah Cerulli from Troy Athens High School in Michigan won 1st Prize in the High School Central division for their documentary, “Unseen Heroes: The Caregivers of America.” As 1st Prize winners, the duo will receive $3,000 in prize money.
C-SPAN is funded by America’s cable and satellite television companies, who also support StudentCam. In Troy, C-SPAN is available locally through Comcast.
“For two decades, StudentCam has served as a catalyst for inspiring young minds to think critically about issues that are important to them and we at Comcast are proud to be a part of that legacy,” said Craig D’Agostini, Comcast vice president, government & regulatory affairs. “We congratulate Brianna and Leah on this outstanding achievement in the 2024 competition.”
