About the Competition:
StudentCam is C-SPAN’s annual, national video documentary competition for middle school (grades 6-8) and high school (grades 9-12) students. We encourage students to critically analyze an issue of interest and create a short (5-8 minute) documentary about that topic.- C-SPAN Announces Winners of 2013 StudentCam Documentary Competition (March 6, 2013)

"This is the sort of thing that he'll remember his whole life, of course, and it's life-changing. You can be sure that you've had a formidable impact on this young man, in part because of the honor of the award, but in larger part because he experienced what it's like to make a difference in something important.
