StudentCam CONTEST RULES1. Each entry must consist of a video of not more than 10 minutes in length and be accompanied by a completed StudentCam entry form. The entry must be the original work of the student(s), hereafter referred to as "entrant(s)." Only one entry per person, whether individual or group participation.2. Entries will be selected for prizes on the basis of: a) the success with which they have captured the contest's theme (exploration of a current political topic of interest), b) quality of expression, c) creativity, d) inclusion of multiple viewpoints, and e) use of C-SPAN programming. 3. Entries must be submitted on VHS or DVD. (Entrants are encouraged to keep the original work and submit a copy.) Entries will not be accepted via e-mail. 4. Individuals or teams of students may create and submit entries. Teams are limited to 3 students. Students must be currently enrolled in the 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade in any state in the United States, the District of Columbia or any U.S. territories, or as U.S. citizens attending school overseas. Students may be enrolled in public or private schools, or be home-schooled. Students in grades 6-8 will be considered "middle school" entrants; grades 9-12 will be considered "high school" entrants. 5. Faculty may provide guidance and critiques to the student but may not participate in conceiving and producing the video. Faculty members designated on entries will receive a prize in the top prize levels. Designating a faculty member is optional. 6. All entries, the receipt of which will not be acknowledged, become the property of National Cable Satellite Corporation, d/b/a C-SPAN and will not be returned. Entrants, without any compensation from C-SPAN, grant permission to C-SPAN to use their names, likenesses and entries for promotional purposes related to C-SPAN and its activities. By submitting an entry, entrants (i) represent that their entries constitute original works of creativity that do not violate the property rights of any other person, and (ii) grant C-SPAN the right to exhibit, distribute, televise and otherwise use the entries in various media. Entries from minors (under the age of 18) must be accompanied by the signature of a parent or legal guardian. 7. Entries must be received in the C-SPAN offices by 5:00pm ET on Monday, December 31, 2007. 8. Prize recipients will be determined by judges selected by C-SPAN and the judges' decisions will be final. If a team's entry wins, the prize money will be divided equally among the team members. Prize recipients will be asked to provide a social security number and will be responsible for any taxes associated with the prizes. C-SPAN reserves the right not to award all prizes in all categories; and C-SPAN reserves the right to not air a winning video. 9. Neither C-SPAN's employees and their immediate families, nor its officers or directors are eligible to participate in the contest. 10. Prize recipients will be notified by C-SPAN and announced February 15, 2008. 11. Prize recipients will be required to send in a non-returnable photo to be used only for C-SPAN promotional purposes. 12.
